The Slumpy the Sad Elephant Puppet is the cutest Sad Puppet ever.  This character was easy to create because I see the faces of sad children often.  When I ask children if they are sad, they normally reply yes.  When I ask them why, they will say,
 
“I don’t know.”
I’m feeling bad, I’m feeling sad
I got the Slumpy, Slumpy blues.
I’m feeling bad, I’m feeling sad
I got the Slumpy Blues.
 
The Slumpy the Sad Elephant Puppet invites children to talk about their sadness.  And when children talk, our job is to listen.
